The audit reports for 2011 to 2012 was very unimpressive to the people of Solomon Islands says a rural community leader.

Feraladoa Community Leader Mr. Jones Sanga says this confirms what the outgoing High Court Judge, Steve Pallarus said in his final media release that corruption is like a contagious disease in Solomon Islands.

The report says more than $54 million are payments that cannot be accounted for by specific Government Ministries.

Mr Sanga says, this is the worst Audit Report revealing the real financial standing of the Government since Independence more than 30years ago.

The Community Leaders claims, his real fear is that the Ministry of Health and Medical Services soon to be announced the Principle Recipient for Global Funds to Fight Malaria and TB respectively will be negatively affected.

Mr Sanga adds, already fraud was detected and charges laid against some suspects adding more bad reputation to the ministry.

He says donors will not trust Solomon Islands causing threat to the health of innocent Solomon Islanders.

While Mr. Sanga appreciates the Office of the Auditor General for the report, the Sogavare-led Government must take appropriate measures to investigate and lay charges against those responsible for misusing public funds.
