Preparations for the upcoming 20th Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) Leaders’ Summit in Honiara is well underway.
The Summit will begin on June 17 with the MSG Senior Officials Meeting, to be followed by the MSG Foreign Ministers Meeting on June 22 and the MSG Leaders Summit on June 24.
PACNEWS today reports a Government Planning Taskforce headed by the Ministry of ForeignAffairs and External Trade has held a series of preparatory meetings in past weeks to deliberate on needed arrangements for the Summit.
Vice Chair of the Taskforce, Cornelius Walegerea says his team is moving closer to finalising major areas including accommodation, meeting venues, transportation, health and security and catering services for the Summit.
SIBC News understands Solomon Islands was given the opportunity to host the 20th MSG Leaders’ Summit at the last meeting in June 2013 in Noumea, New Caledonia.
