The 8th Premiers Conference proper begins at the Guadalcanal Provincial Headquarter conference facility in Honiara today.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Provincial Government and Institutional Strengthening started the conference with presentations on the Gizo Communique followed by discussion sessions on the Deputy Prime Minister’s Speech.

Several provincial premiers also presented today, among whom is the premiere of Makira Ulawa Premier Thomas Weape who says infrastructures in Kirakira are not fully completed because there is still no proper wharf  there.

“Our key infrastructure in Kirakira is the wharf because I will continue to see that this project, costing millions of dollars in the west side to build bridges and good roads, it is an incomplete project because the place to complete is the wharf. Once the wharf is in place then all will be easy.”

Today’s presentations centered around this year’s theme, which is ‘Community Participation in Local Economic Development.’

The Premier’s meeting continues tomorrow.
