Two crocodiles caught in the Tenaru River have drawn a massive crowd in Chinatown this week, sparking concerns about the abundance of the reptiles in local waterways.

The two crocs were brought into Chinatown on the back of a truck on Tuesday.

SIBC sources say the group that caught the crocs were trying to sell them off to local businesses.

A survey of the crocodile population in the Solomon Islands is currently underway, after locals in regional areas raised concerns about the increasing number of the reptiles spotted.

There have been multiple deaths this year from crocodile attacks in the Solomon Islands.
