The Ngarataniau Panpipe Musik Festival proposed  to be held at Afio, Small Malaita on the 15 of June this month has been postponed to August.

Chairman of the festival committee Mr Henry Star Dora attributes the change in date to financial constraints.

He says the program is now moved to 15 August to coincide with the Malaita Province Second Appointed Day celebrations.

“We have decided to move that date from June because of this financial constraint and set the event to the Malaita Provincial second appointed day, which is the 15th of August, so our organising committee at Afio is still preparing for the event.”

Mr Star Dora also says the event is aimed at promoting and enhancing the traditional panpipe music throughout Malaita’s Southern Region where panpipe music is said to originate from.

He adds, already interested Pan pipers from Small Malaita including those from other parts of the Country have already shown keen interest to part-take in the festival.
