A Heavy Rain Alert is in force for Temotu, Malaita, Isabel, Makira, Choiseul, and Western provinces.
The Solomon Islands Meteorological Service this morning reported, a region of unstable air lies north of Solomon Islands and is linked to a Low pressure system northeast of Malaita province.
It says the low is expected to continue moving in a westward direction.
The MET office adds, associated rain, heavy at times is expected to affect the Solomon Islands within the next 24 to 48 hours.
It warns, because such localized Heavy Rain can lead to flash flooding, communities living close to rivers, streams and low lying areas must consider precautionary measures such as moving to higher grounds.
The National Emergency Operation Centre says the Heavy Rain and Flooding alert is current until a cancellation notice is issued by the MET Service.
