The seventh Australia Solomon Islands Business Forum and Business Mission will be hosted in Honiara in June this year.

The business forum was initiated by the Australia Pacific Islands Business Council and the Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce (SICCI).

Speaking during a joint press conference today, Australia Pacific Islands Business Council Executive Director Frank Yourn said the forum is to promote doing business between Solomon Islands and Australia.

Mr Yourn says promoting business will contribute to the economic and employment growth for Solomon Islands.

“The purpose of that business forum has been to promote doing business between Australia and Solomon Islands to help contribute to economic growth and employment growth in Solomon Islands.”

He adds international speakers will be present to share their experience of developing various economic sectors during the forum.

“We’re looking to bring speakers not only from within Solomon Islands and some from Australia but also from some other countries so that they can share their experience of developing various economic sectors like the resources sector, tourism sector and can also talk about things like taxation and fiscal policy.”

The Business forum runs from 15-19 June this year.
