The death toll of this week’s flash floods in the capital has now risen to nine and authorities say they expect the number to double over coming days.
Also up to 8-thousand people are being assisted at the various evacuation centers in Honiara.
Meanwhile, Police recovered a body from the sea area between the Coconut Cafe and the Heritage Park Hotel this morning.
SIBC’s Leni Dalavera was on the scene when police pulled the body from the sea.
“Police have just pulled out the body of a young girl and took her to the hospital. As I speak the police officers have just left the shoreline to the road and the body was wrapped in white linen and now being transported to the hospital.”
