A one-day awareness to minimize anti-social behaviour ended successfully in Sikwafata school, North Malaita.

The awareness bought together chief, church leaders and women representatives to discuss ways to reduce drug abuse, marijuana and kwaso-associated problems in their community.

SIBC stringer for North Malaita John Andrew Kiri reports.

“A total of about 40 concerned community leaders, including chiefs and church leaders, women and parents who their children involved in such illegal alcohol and drugs attended and expressed their concern on such issues. They said their main concern is the rise in such illegal activities. The meeting’s main agenda is the rise of Kwaso and marijuana consumption and ways in which to tackle or eradicate it completely.”

Mr Kiri adds, participants agree to collect reports of unwanted activities with the help of the police.
