The biometric voter registration has started at almost all VRCs in the country.

Scheduled to start yesterday, the registration will run for a period of forty days.

A press statement from the Electoral Commission last night said, registration teams are grouped into clusters and will move from one Voter Registration to another within a constituency.

All teams within one clusters will do registration within a voter registration center for a period of one week and move to another VRC for the next second phase of another one week.

Also in the statement, Chief Electoral Officer, Polycarp Haununu said all eligible electors who are resident within a first phase of the registration should avail themselves to register since each voter registration center has seven days to complete its work.

Mr Haununnu said that out-of-constituency registration for eligible electors who seek to register in their wards at the home constituencies.

Meanwhile, the Chief Electoral Officer said the Commission has observed teething challenges at the start of the biometric voter registration and are working on addressing them on a day to day basis.

Registration opens at 7am and ends at 5pm each day, and at 2pm to 5pm on Sunday.
