Deteriorating road conditions in North Malaita have interrupted business activities in the region, especially for local cocoa farmers and wet bean buyers.

Wet cocoa bean buyers have decided to halt their services to local cocoa farmers in the region as road conditions in the area have worsened.

Our reporter, John Andrew Kiri told us from Bita’ama, wet bean buyers decided to halt their service as it becomes quite expensive.

“They said at times they spend their money only to pay before through a lot of road blocks along the road, from those who claim to fix the bad state of the road. Just imagine one has to pay $250.00 only for passing through these blocks, a practice no business can survive on.”

The cocoa buyers said they will wait until the roads are fixed, to resume business activities in the region.
