BLUE RIBBON DAY MARKED AT GBR, EAST HONIARA

A minute silence was observed in honour of fallen Royal Solomon Islands Police Officers (RSIPF) today.

The ceremony took place at the GBR, RAMSI Memorial base, East Honiara.

This is part of celebrations commemorating this year’s ‘Police Remembrance Day’.

Other celebration order today include the laying of wreaths by His Excellency the Governor General Sir Frank Ofagioro Kabui, the Hon. Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare and the Patron of RSIPF Blue Ribbon Foundation Sir Paul Tovua.

Police Commissioner’s Chief of Staff, Superintendent Ian Bara outlines the importance of today’s event.

“Importantly, the memorial recognises the unique nature of policing and the dangers that police faces in their daily duty. Distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen welcome once again, I am Superintendant Ian Bara, chief of staff to the Commissioner of Police and will be your MC for this morning’s ceremony.”
