The Central Provincial Government has supported the National Government’s Peace-building policy initiative.

Central Provincial Premier Hon. Selwyn Mapuli made the assurance after a two days Peace-building mainstreaming workshop at Tulagi by Ministry of National Unity, Reconciliation, and Peace (MNURP).

Hon. Mapuli, says the initiative from the Ministry of National Unity helps empower the traditional governance system of the Central Islands Province.

“We really support this initiative since it gives our chiefs and other stakeholders in our local communities powers as well as strengthen and empower our traditional governance systems in our communities. In a sense, we are trying to sustain peace in our local communities.”

Meanwhile, Kemuel Laeta of the Peace Ministry explains, the Government’s focus has shifted from reconciliation to Peace-building.
