A community leader from Choiseul Province says current Members of Parliament have no right to take back projects that was given to constituents during their term in Parliament.

John Smith-Pitabelama made this statement following rumours that current MP’s will take back what they have given to the constituents if they are not voted back into Parliament.

Mr Pitabelama says the rumours have frightened and confused people in the Province.

He also says the rumors are misleading and MPs do not have any right to do this.

“My advise to this is that former members have nothing to claim, so they own nothing and they have nothing to claim no matter they lost or voters voting different candidates, leading to the former MPs unsuccessful election contest, they have no right and power to retrieve what they gave to people during their time in Parliament.”
