The current diarrhea outbreak in the country has claimed four lives in Yandina, Russell Islands, Central Province.

Yandina clinic registered nurse Agnes Vili says the four deaths are children below 5 years old.

“The outbreak here is very high and I’ve lost four lives and all four one is eight months old, two seven months and one two years.”

She says Yandina Clinic has received unusual complaints from diarrhea patients on the month of May.

Meanwhile, freelancer Eddy Grant Suku says Yandina clinic has not received the usual support- be it medical supplies or nurses since June 2004 when the RIPEL strike started.

Mr Suku says it concerns him to see simple preventable diarrhea cases claim lives.
