The Environment and Conservation Parliamentary Committee has completed a series of consultation meetings for its important key stakeholders over the weekend.

Media Unit of the National Parliament told SIBC News today, the consultation is an initiative of building a close relationship between each stakeholder in the Environment and Conservation sector.

Chairman of the Environmental and Conservation Committee, Hon. Dr. Culwick Togamana, says these consultations have allowed his Committee to explain its mandated roles and functions to stakeholders.

Hon. Dr. Togamana adds this will also set aside his Committee’s imperative stakeholders to be informed on their functions and roles in relation to environmental issues.

He says it is to cement areas for the future alliance – providing effective Parliamentary oversight and scrutiny.

The ECC Chair says, a better arrangement to engage those they work with is paramount for future programs relating to the environment.
