Honiara should expect high police presence during the long Easter weekend, says the Deputy Commissioner of Police Juanita Matanga.

Mrs. Matanga made the comments in her weekly media conference at the Rove Police Headquarters in Honiara today.

She says Guadalcanal and Honiara police will be on high visibility to ensure there is safety in and around Honiara during the long Easter Weekend.

“The Guadalcanal and Honiara City police will be conducting a high visibility throughout the long weekend and I’d like to ask our people to cooperate and assist them during this operation to help us lower anti-social behaviours in our respective areas.”

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner of Police says police will also ensure a safe traffic flow throughout this Easter weekend for churches who will stage dramas and processions.

“We will also conduct traffic controls which involved church groups who will be marching on the streets and I’d like to ask the public to cooperate with such programs so that we can ensure a smooth traffic flow when police will be controlling traffic on Good Friday. I’d like to ask the groups involved to also respect the traffic directions so as to allow a smooth flow of traffic.”
