Families residing at Maka in Afio, Small Malaita, were allegedly threatened by a group of security officers including a foreigner.

A Steven Wasi told SIBC News from Afio the group landed at Maka by a speed boat from Honiara.

Mr. Wasi claimed a renowned security firm in Honiara led the eviction operation.

The group claimed that they are enforcing a High Court order, requiring the eviction of residents the Maka police station’s vicinity.

However, Mr. Wasi said the Police Officer In-charge of Maka Police Station confirmed, no Court Order was presented to him regarding evicting Maka.

He said police at Maka station then advised the group not to take the law into their own hands, but they however burned down a house and killed a pig belonging to one of the residents there.

While the Police Response Team in Honiara was informed, Mr Wasi calls on the Police Commissioner and Members of Parliament for West Are’are, East Are’are and Small Malaita to reach out and address the situation before it gets out of hand.
