The Australian Government through its Embassy in Honiara has successfully organised its 2015 G’ Day Great Debate in Honiara today.

The Australian High Commissioner Mr Andrew Byrne in his opening remarks said the debate is an annual event designed to enhance students’ public speaking abilities and to assist them think critically about the development of Solomon Islands.

“The G’ Day Solomon Islands Great Debate is now an annual event designed to develop student’s confidence in public speaking to help them think critically the development of Solomon Islands.”

Mr Andrew Byrne adds the event is part of the AustralianGovernment’s contribution to education development in the country.

“Now the Great Debate is just one small part of Australia’s wider contribution to education in Solomon Islands.”

SIBC News understands, senior secondary schools who participated in the debate were St Nicholas School, Betikama Secondary School, St. Joseph’s Tenaru School and Selwyn College School.
