The National Government allocates more than $144 million for national and local sports development for the next four years.

The Democratic Coalition for Change Government believes the funds will ensure the rehabilitation and creation of new sports facilities.

It will strengthen national sporting bodies, support national sporting competitions, encourage sports in communities and review sports policies for better implementation.

Among policy objectives of the DCC Government is to assist the Honiara City Council and Provincial Governments to rehabilitate existing sports facilities and build new sports complexes.

In addition, the government allocates more than $31 million to establish a Solomon Islands Games Council for Solomon Games.

Four million has been earmarked to strengthen the National Olympic Committee of Solomon Islands.
