The Minister for Mines, Energy and Rural Electrification Samson Maneka has cancelled the prospecting license of the mining company, Bintang Borneo.

The Indonesian mining company has been carrying out prospecting work in Rennell and Bellona Province.

The national newspaper, Solomon Star reported yesterday, the company’s license was cancelled after they attempted to deceive customs with a fake export permit to allow them to export its stockpile of bauxite.

Minister Maneka cancelled the license via letter on Friday last week.

The prospecting mining license was issued to the company in June last year.
