President of the Malaita Ma’asina Forum (MMF) Charles Dausabea has called on the Government to equip the Labour Division, Immigration and Foreign Investment in the country.
Mr Dausabea made the call following the cancellation of work permits belonging to five Malaysian workers who were found to have breached the country’s labour laws.
He told SIBC News these government divisions needs capacity building to carry out their work effectively.
He calls on the Government to increase the capacity of the concerned divisions.
“And I call on the Government to increase their capacity so that they can be able to go out and do monitoring because I’ve seen during the investigation that they lack manpower so I think that is the escape route these foreigners used, but I’ve seen that maybe they have received the letter even their restaurants have closed, one of which is at the Townground Plaza.”
