The Honiara City Council (HCC) has successfully installed over 20 waste bins within the city.
HCC Deputy Clerk Fred Warereau told SIBC News this is part of the Council’s new waste management system.
He says this is vital to effectively manage waste in the city.
“We have identified the locations and currently there are 22 skip bins located at sites where lots of wastes were produced and so we installed the bins at these locations so that the public can use them to store rubbish and our skip trucks would pick them up once a week to the dumpsite.”
Mr Warereau calls on the general public to respect and use the installed bins responsibly.
“Since the Council is putting efforts to look after our City in terms of waste management I urge our people to respect what we’re trying to put in place.”
