Australia’s Parliamentary Secretary for Foreign Affairs Honourable Steven Ciobo has visited the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands at the Guadalcanal Beach Resort as part of his three-day visit to Solomon Islands.

A statement from the RAMSI’s Special Coordinator’s office said, Hon Chiobo was briefed on police development programmes; the mission implemented together with the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force.

In his remarks, Mr Chiobo said, Australia and Solomon Islands share a unique partnership between the people and governments of Australia adding this has reflected Australia’s decade-long leadership of the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands.

Mr Chiobo said RAMSI has helped the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force to maintain peace and stability and laying the foundation for continued economic growth and development.

He said RAMSI focuses on strengthening the RSIPF so that it can deliver effective policing services across the country, building a strong and resilient nation.

Meanwhile, the Australia’s Parliamentary Secretary adds, Australia’s commitment to law, order and stability in Solomon Islands will endure.
