Hopes fade for missing man after police search concludes

Police in Buala, Isabel Province concluded a search for a man in his 60s who went on a fishing trip last week and failed to return home.
The matter was reported to police in Buala on November 22 after area residents found the man’s canoe with his fishing gear inside near Buma Village in the Maringe District.
Supervising Provincial Police Commander for Isabel Province Inspector Oswald Iru said police looked for the man until November 24 when area residents decided to stop the search.
“Unfortunately, we did not find the missing person,” he said.
A memorial service was held for the man at Buma Village over the weekend.
People in communities around Buma Village were urged to contact police in Buala on phone 35266 if they have any information regarding the missing person.
