The Leadership Code Commission (LCC) explains, it is too early and untimely to disclose whether the Commission has started its investigation into issues surrounding ghost shipping companies.

Chair of the Leadership Code Commission Solomon Kalu told SIBC News, the commission will disclose results of the investigations but not at its early stage.

“The Commission has the jurisdiction to conduct an investigation but I cannot tell anything more than that, whether it will or not, I won’t say more because that investigation was meant to be confidential and we can only make public the outcome of the investigation.”

SIBC News understands, the Opposition Group recently called on the Leadership Code Commission to investigate serious allegations of corruption within the Ministry of Infrastructure Development. The eight ghost companies reported by Transparency Solomon Islands includes; Logistics & Multi Investments, Amwata Shipping & Boat Building, Triple JMR Enterprises, ST Shipping, Island Link Shipping, Ebtide Shipping, Ressy Boat Shipping and PS Shipping Transport Services.

Meanwhile, the Opposition Group says it is disgusting that the Government has given away $14.8 million to ghost shipping companies who have no record of existence or whatsoever according to the Company Haus.

SIBC News is aware, the Director of Island Link Shipping Services Clive Runimetu confirms, his company will pursue legal action against Transparency Solomon Islands for labeling it a ‘Ghost Company’.
