JAPAN FUNDS NEW STAFF HOUSES FOR PIRUPIRU SCHOOL

Staff house shortages will be a thing of the past for Pirupiru Community High School in Ulawa, Makira Ulawa province.

Thanks to the Government and people of Japan for signing a grant contract of $360,000.00 with the school authority in Honiara today.

The school has been without adequate staff houses over the years.

The grant contract will see the construction of two new staff houses for Pirupiru school.

Speaking at the signing today, Japanese Ambassador to Solomon Islands, His Excellency Kenichi Kimiya says the government of Japan is pleased to contribute to the development of Solomon Islands.

“On behlaf of the Government and the people of Japan, I’d like to take this opportunity to say that we are very pleased to contribute to the development for the people of Solomon Islands. I would also like to emphasise that today is just a beggining for you and your school to have huge responsibilities to facilitate a proper implementation and community development from thsi project.”

In his response, Principal of Pirupiru Community High School, John Lada says constructing two new staffs houses under the project will cater for additional staff for their planned Form 6 expansion next year.

“Upon completion of our project, my school and community will be proud to own two new staff houses that will cater for the additional staff required for our planned Form 6 expansion next year 2017.”
