JAPAN SUPPORTS AIRAHU RURAL TRAINING CENTRE

The Government of Japan through its Embassy in Honiara has today signed a grant contract of $282,000.00 with the Airahu Rural Training Centre in Malaita province.

Signed by Japanese Ambassador to Solomon Islands, Kenichi Kimiya and the Principal of Airahu Rural Training Centre, Fr. Harry Gereniu, it will help to build two staff houses for the centre.

Speaking during the signing, Japanese Ambassador Kenichi Kimiya says they believe the project will have a positive impact in terms of human resources in Malaita province.

“We believe that this project will have a positive impact on producing a large number of human resources in Malaita province and moreover it will lead to further development and prosperity of Solomon Islands.”

Meanwhile in his response, Fr. Gereniu described the assistance as a “double potion gift” for the rural training centre.”

“This support with two staff houses from the Japanese Government is a double portion gift helping to ease the situation of the staff house repairĀ and as well the need of new staff houses.”
