The new Chief Magistrate Emmanuel Kouhota says he will assist the Magistrates Court dispense its huge backlog of cases.

The former Leadership Code Commission Chairman has been with the LCC for almost twelve years.

The new Chief Magistrate says after such a long time, he feels it is time to move on.

He says another main reason for his decision to go back to the Magistracy is to assist Magistrate’s Court with its huge backlog of cases.

“Mr training is specifically for a Magistrate so I want to go back to where I have been trained. As an outsider I see that there are a lot of problems there at the moment that needs to be put right, especially the backlog of cases within the administration and the long delay of cases, a lot of cases have not been heard for a long time. So I just want to go back to help there and assist in whatever way possible, to put things right.”
