Solomon Islands’ national futsal team, the Kurukurus, lost their third match in the Asian indoor games this morning.

The Kurukurus were defeated by host team Turkmenistan, four goals to two.

The first half was a fair challenge, but Turkmenistan scored early in the game and doubled its lead before Alvin Hou scored in the 17th minute to close the deficit and take the game to 2 -1 at halftime.

The second half saw the hosts dominate and score before Alvin Hou succumbed to an own-goal and sealed the Kukukurus’ fate.

Coleman Makau scored near the end of the game and gave the Kurukurus hope, but the host team stood its ground to secure the win.

The Kurukurus have a chance to advance to the quarterfinals if they beat Vietnam tomorrow.

Vietnam is ranked 40th in the latest FIFA futsal world rankings, six places above the Solomon Islands at 46th.
