A West Are’are man, Tom Joel Hutaka says land disputes has hindered the progress of development in the provinces.

Mr Hutaka told SIBC News land disputes is a big hindrance to development in the country.

He adds, as a person living in the village most of his life, he has come to observe that land disputes are caused by certain issues.

“According to my knowledge there are four kinds of disputes. One is authority dispute, where two parties are facing authority. Another is called ownership dispute involving denying someone from a particular area, for instance you do not belong here and then the fourth one is called boundary dispute which usually happens between two tribes who have a common boundary between them.”
