LIBERATION MOVEMENT HERE TO LOBBY FOR WEST PAPUA

The General-Secretary for the United Liberation Movement for West Papua has arrived in Honiara to lobby for Solomon Islands support for West Papua’s application to join the Melanesian Spearhead Group.

Octovianus Mote told SIBC News he is also here to empower the Solomon Islands West Papua support group.

“Am visiting here to lobby with the Solomon Islands Government, asking for their support on our application to MSG but also more importantly to empowering this local support group to review the condition of our level of lobbying, how far we have already gone and are certain about the possibilities of support from the government and then restructure the new approach, like how we would like to maintain support so that when the Solomon Islands lead the MSG, it would support our application.”

SIBC News understands the General Secretary for the United Liberation Movement for West Papua will be meeting with the Prime Minister while he is here.
