Low student performance at Manu Primary School in East Fataleka, Malaita Province, has raised concerns over teacher performances at the school.

Concern parent and Chair of the school committee, Nelson Lodua told SIBC News, as parents they expect teachers to perform to a certain level.

Mr Lodua says lateness has become a usual practice for teachers, which in turn affects student performances at the school.

“What I usually see when observing teachers at home is that they started late, at times in week four, five or week six and that’s my concern so I want the education authority to consider this carefully. That’s why it affects student performances at school.”

He calls on the Malaita Education Authority to closely monitor teacher performances in schools across the province to ensure students receive a better education.
