The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAL) has poured out assistance to farmers who lost their crops and livestock during the April flash floods.

The Ministry of Agriculture says, it is eager to assist everyone whose livelihoods were damaged during the floods.

Extension Services Director from the Ministry of Agriculture Michael Ho’ota said assistance will be prioritised on activities most
important to affected farmers.

Mr Ho’ota said the Ministry is in the process of identifying most affected farmers.

The government-funded activities include setting people up with livestock projects like piggery, poultry, floriculture vegetable
gardens, root crops, cocoa, and coconuts.

This was the first activity the Ministry has done with the assistance of the World Society for the Protection of Animals funded by
UNDP-under the SWoCK programme.
