Makira Ulawa Province had received a new 40 Horse Power Yamaha OBM and Canoe from the National Government through the Provincial Capacity Development Fund, PCDF.

Permanent Secretary of Provincial Government and Institutional Strengthening, MPGIS, Stanley Dick Pirione delivered the OMB to Premier Thomas Weape in Kirakira last week.

The OBM and Canoe will be used for project monitoring and service delivery to other remote parts of the province.

It will be used for movement of Office staff, project monitoring and other uses.

The PCDF is a Solomon Islands Government funded and supported infrastructural project throughout the country.

Its components include capacity and good governance building at the Provincial level.

The program’s overall objective is poverty reduction and achievement of the Millenium goals.

In addition to the handing-over of the equipment, Mr Pirione, as National Director of the PGSP, also opened and officially handed over a fisheries center at Ugi Island to the provincial Government of Makira-Ulawa Province.

The fisheries project costs 200-thousand dollars.

The Permanent Secretary and his team also visited other PCDF related projects at Waimasi, Bauro, Namuga and Santa Ana.
