The Malaita Provincial Government will concentrate on strengthening governance in its wards and communities to boost economic activities.
Malaita Premier Peter Ramohia made the statement as Malaita Province is among two other provinces with a portion of its population living in poverty according to the Solomon Islands Poverty Profile.
Mr. Ramohia says,his government will assist people to engage in economic activities to ensure basic needs are met.
“It will address governance at the ward level, community level and this will also include economic activities, allowing people to engage in economic activities that will help meet their needs as addressed in the report.”
The recently launched Poverty Survey says, more than three-quarter of persons living in poverty in Solomon Islands live on Guadalcanal, Makira, and Malaita.
