A male suspect has been arrested in relation to a traffic incident which occurred at the Lawson Tama bus stand this week.

Police Commissioner Frank Prendergast confirmed the arrest.

He says a male suspect has been arrested, charged and released on bail for the traffic incident, adding the matter is now before the courts.

“We arrested a male suspect over that incident. That suspect is being charged with two counts under the Road Traffic Act, one for careless driving and one for driving under the influence of liquor. He’d been released on bale to appear in court on the 5th of May, so because that’s before the court it’s not appropriate that I say too much more.”

The Police Commissioner urged people to drive carefully and not to drive under the influence of liquor.

“What I will say is and I said it before but I really urge people can they be very careful when they’re driving and can we please ask everyone not to drive while they’re been drinking, it’s a very dangerous practice. There’s too much of it. We were running some traffic operations over the weekend over Easter and we’ll be continuing to run those but we really need the public to work with us on this. This is not an acceptable practice.”
