MAN ARRESTED ON SUSPICION OF RAPING MENTALLY-ILL WOMAN

Police have arrested a man on suspicion of raping a mentally-ill woman at the Honiara Magistrate area just this month.

It is believed the accused forced the woman with a knife and raped her.

Police reports show the victim had knife wounds to her left back.

She was attended to by members of the public where she was admitted at the National Referral Hospital surgical ward in stable condition.

The accused, an adult male from Malaita province, was arrested and is remanded in police custody.
