The Ministry of Women, Youth, Children and Family Affairs (MWYCFA) and UNICEF are currently developing a community facilitation package to promote child protection in households and villages in Solomon Islands.

The Ministry and its partners are organising a stakeholder’s meeting which is scheduled for next month.

The meeting is set to provide a briefing on the Community Facilitation Manual which contains its objectives, target audience and timeline.

It will also provide an avenue for stakeholders to undertake a rapid assessment of key priorities on child protection issues.

All stakeholders will provide their presentation based on the meeting’s objectives.

The meeting will be regarded as the overview of the existing community-based activities to address child protection issues at the household and village levels.

Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Ethel Sigimanu says the development of the Community Facilitation Manual is aligned with the Solomon Islands Child Protection Work plan 2015/2016, a joint programme by the Ministry of Women and UNICEF.
