Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Police, National Security and Correctional Services Edmond Sikua has told newly grandaunts of Correctional Services – never trade their career with bad influence.

He told the new grandaunts that serving in a disciplined organisation such as the CSSI is a worthwhile and an enjoyable experience.

“My advice to you today is: do not trade your career for the influence of things such as alcohol, wantoks, friends that follow you for your salary. Your career as a Correctional Officer is one thing that you can treasure because you will depend on it, your family depend on it. Those who depend on you will depend on your career. Do not lose grip of your career, take an interest in self-development and advance through the ranks, as the saying goes the sky is the limit.”

Mr. Sikua encouraged the grandaunts to grasp all opportunities available to them and strive for professional maturity.

“Opportunities for advancement will be presented to you during your career and I encourage that you take those opportunities and strive to perform to the best of your ability.”
