The Minister for Finance and Treasury has approved a new range of levy rates and dues for the Solomon Islands Ports Authority.

The gazetted new charges revoke the 2010 levy of rates and dues.

A press statement from the Government Communications Unit did not state any figures for the new charges but said it applies for the Honiara Port and the Noro Port in the Western Province.

The GCU also said the new rates and dues have been in effect as of March 30, the date the new ports charges were gazetted and released.

Under the new Ports charges, ships berthing at the Point Cruz are now charged at Gross Cargo Tonnages and not, according to their lengths.
