The new Ministers for Mines, Energy and Rural Electrification and for National Unity, Reconciliation and Peace have been sworn into their new portfolios.

Following a reshuffle of the Democratic Coalition for Change Cabinet, Samson Maneka – formerly the Minister for Mines, Energy and Rural Electrification – is now the Minister for National Unity, Reconciliation and Peace.

David Dei Pacha, who was Minister for National Unity, Reconciliation and Peace, is now the Minister for Mines, Energy and Rural Electrification Maneka and Pacha took their oath of office at the Government House in Honiara yesterday.

In a statement last week, Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare said the changes were necessary to ensure Ministers utilise their expertise in appropriate portfolios.

The swearing-in ceremony was attended by the Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare, senior Cabinet Ministers and senior Government Officials.
