Disaster-affected communities in Ngella, Central Islands were the first to receive disaster relief supplies from their Member of Parliament Bartholomew Parapolo recently.
Provincial Disaster Officer for Central Province Brian Tom told SIBC News the disaster relief supplies for Ngella Constituency have been successfully distributed last weekend.
“As the Provincial Disaster Officer for Central Province I worked closely with the Ngella Constituency office and we have started the distribution since Saturday. So firstly, we started our distribution at Small Ngella and down to Sunfly yesterday.”
The disaster relief supplies were part of government efforts to deal with the aftermath of the recent Tropical Cyclones Pam and Raquel in the country.
Similar relief supplies were also received by people living along the Kwaibaita river in East Malaita recently.
The relief supplies were made possible by the MP for East Kwaio, Stanley Festus Sofu.
SIBC News understands all Members of Parliament have received disaster funding from the national government.
