The Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, OPMC, has condemned veteran journalist Alfred Sasako for publicly declaring October 29th as the Election Day.

Press Secretary to Prime Minister Douglas Marau says Mr Sasako has no right to declare the election date- worst still he does not know the official date.

Mr Marau says only the Governor General has the right to make such declaration.

He says Mr Sasako has no respect for the election process and he should be condemned in the highest degree.

Mr Marau explains, only the Governor General has the right to announce the election date- not Sasako.

He says, Sasako has yet again practiced very bad and unprofessional journalism.

Mr Marau adds, this is not the first time Sasako has attempted to interfere in such processes and trying to deliberately mislead the citizens of this country.

The Prime Minister’s press secretary calls on Sasako to stop interfering with government processes nor mislead the public.
