The Parliamentary Opposition has expressed condolences to the family of Mr Trevor Olavae, former Member of Parliament for South Vella La Vella and a passionate tourism entrepreneur.

In a political career spanning eight years, the late Olavae served as Minister for Development Planning and Aid Coordination, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Aviation, Minister for Commerce, Employment and Trade, Minister for Culture and Tourism and Minister for Agriculture and Livestock.

Opposition Leader Hon. Dr Derek Sikua said, it is with profound sadness that the members of the Parliamentary Opposition and their families learnt of the passing away of former Parliamentarian and tourism entrepreneur ,Mr Trevor Olavae.

Mr Sikua said the late Olavae had contributed significantly towards the development of the tourism industry in the country in his capacity as Minister for Culture and Tourism in 2006 and as Managing Director of Tropicana Beach Resort prior to and after his political career.

He adds, the late Olavae was a wonderful man with a passion for tourism development in the country and an entrepreneurial spirit and drive.

Meanwhile, President of the People’s Alliance Party, Sir Nathaniel Waena has expressed sadness about the death of Mr Olavae, saying he had been a staunch supporter of the party.

Sir Nathaniel says the Peoples Alliance Party acknowledges late Olavae’s ever-ready assistance to the People’s Alliance Party.

Sir Nathaniel says late Olavae had allowed his motel conference room to be used by the Party free of charge, on a number of occasions.

He says the Peoples Alliance Party joins the Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet in extending condolences to the children, wife and relatives of late party colleague, Trevor Olavae.
