The Parasi airfield on Small Malaita which was closed for four years due to land issues has now been reopened.

Confirming this to SIBC News today, Wawateimata landowning tribe representative Clement Honiola says commercial flights to the airfield will soon resume as disputes have now been cleared.

Mr Honiola says stakeholders and landowning tribes will be holding consultations to determine when the first flights to Parasi will start.

He assured the Ministry of Aviation along with the Malaita Provincial Government and the public that Parasi airfield is now open to provide flight services to the people of Solomon Islands.

SIBC News hopes to get a confirmation of the airfield reopening from the Ministry of Aviation tomorrow.
