PARLIAMENT ADJOURNED DUE TO LACK OF QUORUM

Parliament was adjourned this morning to next Monday due to lack of quorum.

Speaker of Parliament Sir Allan Kemakeza moved the adjournment after a 15 minute waiting time he issued had lapsed.

Sir Allan adjourned Parliament in accordance with Standing Order 12 as read with Section 67 of the National Constitution.

“Honourable Members I’m afraid that 15 minutes has lapsed. There will be no quorum in accordance with Standing Order 12 as read with Section 67 of the Constitution, Parliament is now adjourned until 9.30am on Monday the 25th of August 2014.”

SIBC News understands, the Speaker has urged all Members of Parliament to attend all meetings in this sitting, as it is the final one for the Ninth Parliament.

Parliament will dissolve on 8 September.
