PM AND PLANNING MINISTER LAUNCHED NATIONAL PLAN 2016-2023

Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare and the Minister of Development Planning and Aid Coordination Hon. Danny Philip has this afternoon jointly launched the country’s National Development Strategy 2016-2035.

Presenting the keynote speech, Prime Minister Sogavare says the Strategy is a plan which maps out the country’s development pathway for the next 20 years.

He adds the document sets a national vision based on social and economic livelihoods of all Solomon Islanders.

“The NDS focuses on two key areas, social and economic livelihoods. It presents a national vision, improving the social and economic livelihoods of all Solomon Islanders, it sets out a national mission to create a peaceful, harmonious and progressive Solomon Islands, led by ethical, accountable, respected and credible leadership that enhances and protects people’s culture, social, economic and spiritual wellbeing.”

Mr. Sogavare calls on the national and provincial governments, development partners, the private sector, civil organizations and all citizens of the country to embrace the NDS.
