Prime Minister Gordon Darcy Lilo has described his meeting with Australia’s Justice Minister, Michael Keenan as “a very successful one”.
Speaking to the local media in Honiara today, Prime Minister Lilo says discussions were centered around the development of the country’s Justice system.
“We have spoke about issues surrounding the development of our judiciary, justice system. As you know, that Australia have invested quite a substantial investment in the development of our justice sector and it is one of the sectors that has produced a good outcome in our country. I have shared with the Minister the recent reform that we have made in upgrading the Magistracy into a Constitutional Post Holder and that should improve the level of development that we will require to be able to upgrade certain developments and the Magistrate Courts to the people of our Country.”
The Prime Minister adds, he also raised with the Australian Justice Minister the need to support the development of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force in key areas to ensure it remains strong and effective in any given situation.
He says overall relations between Solomon Islands and Australia continues to improve in all engagement fronts.
