Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare has visited the proposed site for the new Solomon Islands Chancery office in Fiji while attending the recent Pacific Islands Development Forum in Suva earlier this month.

A government statement today says the Prime Minister was accompanied by the Solomon Islands Islands High Commission to Fiji His Excellency Patterson Oti.

Prime Minister Sogavare and members of his delegation made a brief stop over at the site, located at Muanikau Road, Laucala Beach.

Mr Sogavare was impressed at the location and acknowledge its convenience for the Solomon Islands USP students due to its proximity to the campus.

The portion of land was approved by the Government of Fiji and would also accommodate the Papua New Guinea and the Vanuatu Chancery buildings.

High Commission Counsellor Tony Kabasi indicated there are only some demarcation issues to be sorted out before the tenders for design and construction are issued.
